No-exam life insurance
Learn who gets faster underwriting, the process behind it, and what happens if you don't qualify.
A growing number of carriers have introduced expedited underwriting as an alternative: for applicants in specified age and amount ranges, they use only your application, pharmacy records, driving history and similar background data rather than requiring a physical exam. Many approvals are issued within a single business day. This site displays whether each product requires an exam, might need one, or doesn't need one.
What it changes
Avoiding an exam is not the same as avoiding scrutiny. Your statements will still be verified, and carriers retain the right to challenge a policy issued based on untrue information within the first two years. If your medical history raises red flags, the company may still ask for testing or labs; you can then choose whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Typically, candidates under approximately 60 seeking standard coverage limits, with a clean medical background and no recent tobacco use, can skip a full exam. Some carriers will also accept recent bloodwork from a routine doctor's visit in place of a new exam.
An exam in your situation would typically consist of a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a medical professional at your home or workplace in the Stanton region, at zero cost. For people in good health, an exam often leads to a better rate class, so it's not automatically disadvantageous.
